REQUESTING A STATIC DISPLAY

Event organizers should be aware that static display requests are subject to a number of restrictions and are supported only where they do not impact operational mission accomplishment . Anyone requesting a static display vehicle or aircraft must submit a request in writing to the

Alabama National Guard Public Affairs Office
PO Box 3711
Montgomery, AL 36109

or Fax (334) 271-7232.

Requests should be submitted a minimum of 90 days prior to the event to be considered for support. Fewer than 90 days notice greatly reduces the chance that support will be available. Requests received 30 days or less before the event will not be considered.

REQUESTING A FLYOVER

Requests for military aircraft to fly over your special event can be made through the Alabama National Guard Public Affairs Office or the US Air Force Aerial Events Support website at http://www.airshows.pa.hq.af.mil/.

A list of DoD approved events are posted to the Air Force site. Military aircraft flyover requests are subject to a number of restrictions and are supported only where they do not impact operational mission accomplishment. Anyone requesting a military aircraft flyover must submit a completed DD Form 2535 and an Exception to Policy Form to the Public Affairs Office a minimum of 90 days prior to event to allow for adequate planning; requests received closer than 30 days will not allow adequate planning for some organizations to support; requests received 14 days or closer will not be considered. Event organizers are required to coordinate with the regional Federal Aviation Administration office and provide latitude and longitude coordinates for the location of the flyover request.

Please be aware that submittal and approval of DD Form 2535 is only the first step in our ability to support your request. The criteria for a flyover is met if your DD Form 2535 is approved but this does NOT guarantee we will be able to support your request. When we conduct a flyover, there are many factors which come into play, including flight time, availability of aircrews, flight maintenance, distance, and Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) approval for air space, among others. If one of those factors is compromised, chances are a mission to conduct a flyover may have to be turned down or canceled.

Events conducted in observance of military holidays are approved at the Adjutant General level and do not require submittal of a DD Form 2535 when the flyover is conducted by the Alabama Air National Guard.

DoD policy limits eligibility to aviation-related events or patriotic observances held in conjunction with the military holidays;  Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, POW/MIA Day and Veterans Day.

Request for flyovers for non aviation-related events or events that do not occur on military holidays also require the requester to submit an Exception to Policy Form  in addition to the DD 2535.

The Alabama Air National Guard has F-16 and KC-135 aircraft available for flyovers. The Army National Guard has UH-60 Blackhawk and CH-47 Chinook helicopters available.

To request a flyover from the Alabama National Guard, event organizers should submit a completed DD Form 2535  and/or an Exception to Policy Form to the
